Rice Congee (Rice Porridge)

This yummy dish, all warm, soft, and spiced up, gives your recovering body a big hug. It doesn't just chill out your nerves but also treats your tissues, gets digestion going, and helps build up your blood. This rice porridge is like a healing magic potion, especially for moms!



 

Ingredients

Let’s Get Started

Rinse rice several times until the water runs clear.

  • Bring water to a boil and add rice. Reduce heat to a simmer.

  • Cook with the lid on, stirring occasionally for several hours.

  • When the rice begins to thicken, add sugar, spices and ghee.

  • When the consistency is gelatinous, take off heat and serve hot.


This rice can be saved for future meals throughout the week, in fact, it just gets better as leftovers!
